Daisy is a 1970s doll designed by British fashion designer Mary Quant. Daisy was released in the UK in 1973 with the tagline “Mary Quant makes Daisy the best dressed doll in the world”. Her name was a reference to Mary Quant’s logo, the daisy flower. I found my Daisy on Vinted of course, and for her age she was in pretty good shape. Unfortunately, her knees don’t bend anymore, also I had to remove the melted plastic from her hips and neck, bathed her, and decided to fix her hair.
After bathing and beauty treatments, I put straw rollers on and poured boiling water on her hair 🤦♀️ Unfortunately I didn’t know that Daisy’s hair can’t be treated like other dolls’ hair but it was too late….. The hair melted and shrunk 😰 So I had to think about rerooting – I made it from yellow yarn because it’s easier for me 😝 I think I did quite well, this color suits her and the hairstyle adds to her charm:
The Daisy Mary Quant doll is smaller than Barbie, it measures about 23cm, so I borrowed a dress from an Azone doll and this is what my renovated Daisy looks like after all my efforts:
As I mentioned, the Daisy doll is smaller than Barbie, she is 23cm tall, so she looks more like the Licca doll from Takara or Barrbie’s sister – Stacie from Mattel. Below are some photos comparing these 3 dolls:
Licca or Stacie doll clothes will be perfect for Daisy 😊
And here’s a video of Daisy’s doll restoration from my Youtube channel:
